New Map of the World

On a morning after a rainy night, Laurie Chester (owner of Wild Apple) and I were wandering through an English outdoor flea market. I found a very old book lying wet on the grass and bought it for 50 pence. The lining of the cover was this splendid map. Beautiful, yet damp and warping. I dried it on the heater in my room that night and put it in a ziplock bag for the trip home. The spine was broken so I had to restore the seam between the two halves of the map. I’m pretty pleased with the result. On the whitewashed wood it is returned to its worthy regalness. I still have the book, and it’s warped and water-stained, but supplies a fond memory of a good day wandering for treasures on an April day in England.
