Plein Air Landscapes, Season 1

I started painting en plein air (French term for painting outdoors) in 2017. Even as I select a place to paint and set up my easel I can see that the light is changing, the clouds are moving, the weather is adjusting and the scene alters. It pushes an artist to work fast to capture a moment or feeling. I like chasing those moments, and here are some of my paintings from the first summer of experimenting under the dome of the sky. All are painted within 30 minutes of my home in central Vermont. A few were painted just up the hill.
