I started painting en plein air (French term for painting outdoors) in 2017. Even as I select a place to paint and set up my easel I can see that the light is changing, the clouds are moving, the weather is adjusting and the scene alters. It pushes an artist to work fast to capture a moment or feeling. I like chasing those moments, and this is one of my paintings from the first summer of experimenting under the dome of the sky.
Upper Fields was painted about a mile from my house. It is one of my favorite vantages locally and the barn is owned by a wonderful family.
The original is 12×12″ acrylic on board. It is framed in a simple warm gray frame. $350. Please email me to purchase.
